Extension ticket for physical Rejsekort and Rejsekort Commuter Pass
If you have a Commuter Pass in card form or on a Rejsekort, a distinction is made between extension ticket purchases inside and outside the validity area for the Commuter Pass.
Within the validity area
Here, purchases from the first zone ring outside the zones on the Commuter Pass are valid regardless of the zone in which the extension ticket was purchased.
A 1-zone extension = one zone ring, a 2-zone extension = two zone rings, etc. How long the purchase is valid for depends on how many zones the Commuter Pass + extension ticket together are valid for. If the Commuter Pass + ticket are together valid for three zones, the extension is valid for one hour and 30 minutes.
For example, if the Commuter Pass + extension ticket are valid for six zones, the extension is valid for two hours and 15 minutes. Validity is always counted from the time stamp on the extension ticket.
Outside the card validity area
If the ticket is purchased outside the Pass validity area (such as on a return trip), this is done according to the general rules for the purchase of the ticket. However, 1-zone tickets can be purchased in the first zone ring outside the zones on the Commuter Pass.
The ticket is valid only in the zone it displays, and for 1 hour and 15 minutes. The total time validity for the Commuter Pass + extension ticket is not extended when the ticket is purchased outside the card’s validity area.
Extension ticket for Mobile Commuter Pass 2-8 zones
If you have a mobile Commuter Pass, purchases can be made directly in the DOT app and the extension ticket will automatically be displayed along with the mobile Commuter Pass in the app. On the mobile Commuter Pass, no distinction is made between whether extension tickets have been purchased within or outside the validity area.
The extension ticket is always valid for the number of zone rings outside the Commuter Pass area of validity corresponding to the number of zones purchased. For example, a 1-zone ticket provides validity in one zone ring outside the validity area of the Commuter Pass, while a 3-zone extension ticket provides validity in 3 zones outside the area, and so on.
