On the bus on special days
On Christmas Eve (24th December), the buses operate according to the Sunday schedule. Please note that in many areas, buses stop running from around 5:30 PM. However, in parts of the metropolitan area, they resume around 10:00 PM. Details about individual lines on Christmas Eve will be available on DOT's website and in the Journey Planner from around December 1st.
On Christmas Day (25th December) and Boxing Day (26th December), buses operate according to the schedule for Sundays.
On New Year's Eve (December 31st), the buses operate according to the Saturday schedule. On New Year's Day (January 1st), the buses operate according to the Sunday schedule.
In the days leading up to Easter (March 25-27), the buses operate according to the schedule for weekdays. Maundy Thursday (March 28), Good Friday (March 29), Easter Sunday (March 31), and Easter Monday (April 1) operate according to the Sunday schedule. Also, be aware that in 2024, we switch to daylight saving time on Easter Sunday, March 31.
Please note that there will be fewer departures on some day buses. This information will be available in the schedule.
On the last Sunday in March, daylight saving time begins. During the transition to daylight saving time, N-buses operate on the 'old time' throughout the night. This means that N-buses adjust their clocks after the last service has run on Sunday morning.
A-buses run throughout the night.The transition to daylight saving time coincides with Easter in 2024.
On Ascension Day (May 9th) the buses operate according to the Sunday schedule.
Please note that on the Wednesday before (May 8th), there may be fewer departures on some day buses. This information will be available in the schedule.
On Pentecost Sunday (May 19th) and Whit Monday (May 20th) the buses operate according to the Sunday schedule.
On Constitution Day (June 5th), buses operate according to the Saturday schedule.
On the last Sunday in October, we switch to winter time, and N-buses operate on the 'new time' throughout the night. This means that N-buses adjust their clocks before they begin running on the night to Sunday. A-buses run throughout the night.
